Vanwall GP

Vanwall by JDR Paris - Tether car

1/10th scale (2022)

An iconic GP car of the 50’s, a bit underpowered but a very nice horse for Sir Stirling Moss who contributed to make it famous. Sitting a bit high with a high tail and small wheels combination at the rear, the very muscular lines of this car combined with such a thin nose are very organic, pre dating some nose cars designs that went later on. For this model in two halves, we wanted to push the possible limits of gravity sand casting process with the foundry dept. The challenge was to be just below 3mm in non-structural areas. Thanks to all the maestria of the foundry Dept, we made it happen and the result is so perfect that it can be mistaken for an injected part, job done ! This was only possible thanks to ultra-high temperature in the process (over 800 °C) and long high velocity cones. This model is already a winner in the tether car fellow community in the UK and this is in my opinion very well deserved.
